Attn. Faculty and Staff: Free Flu Shots Available

In conjunction with MaskUpCUNY, QC is urging members of the college community to not only wear a mask, but also to get this year’s flu vaccine. In years past, free flu shots were available on CUNY campuses through the WorkWell NYC Free Flu Vaccination Program. With campuses closed due to COVID, WorkWell NYC is making free flu shots available at WorkWell NYC clinics, participating pharmacies, and offices of in-network physicians. You can go to web address http://www1.nyc.gov and click on the tab that say WorkWell. There you will find more information and locations.

Here’s more information directly from the WorkWellNYC website:

There’s no vaccine for COVID-19. But there’s one for influenza – Get the shot, not the flu.

Influenza –“the flu”– and COVID-19 are both highly contagious virus that spreads easily, especially in the workplace. Anyone can become seriously ill from both viruses, even healthy people.

This year, it is more important than ever to get your flu shot. Getting your flu shot is the best way to protect yourself and your loved ones against the flu and its complications. Not only will the flu shot reduce your risk of getting sick from the flu, it will also help to ensure that NYC’s health care resources will be available for those who need them most.

Now more than ever, everyone needs to do their part to prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses like flu and COVID-19.

The City and its unions offer free flu shots to municipal employees and their families. All employees, dependents, and pre-Medicare retirees eligible for New York City health benefits are covered to receive a flu vaccination at no-cost.
